Well this weekend was a fantastic end to the season for me, and quite possibly the last sailing I'll get before spring. What with the next few weekends full of family visits, nursery and house decorating activities, hosting Xmas dinner, New Year in Dorset and then the imminent arrival of the nipper on 8th Feb, followed by a few months lay off while I learn to be a dad, I think I can probably forget sailing until spring (unless of course I manage a sneaky day off work at some point - I live in hope!).

But this weekend was a great way to bow out for the year. A weekend of wild camping down at Portland and two days of brilliant (and on Sunday utterly nuking) winds on the Weymouth speed strip has given me some good memories to last me through the winter. Leathering it up and down the speed strip on a 4.2, utterly maxed, in wind gusting 50kts winds was a real buzz. The sailing was interspersed with curry, beers and loads of windsurfing chatter with Grawp (and Duncan too on Saturday - good to see you mate!), spectating on crazy looping antics at a very chunky Overcombe, rescuing a kitesurfer who lost his board in a biblical squall, nosing around the marina in Weymouth and reading in the van with the howling wind and lashing rain rattling away - I couldn't have asked for a much better end to the year.

Roll on springtime....

Edit: Almost forgot to mention, another highlight was seeing the Grawptek speed needle in action! It worked!!!
